Dr. Michael J. Murphy, MD, MPH, is a board-certified psychiatrist and addiction medicine specialist with over 25 years of experience. As a Supervising Protocol Psychiatrist at Psych Health Associates, he oversees the work of our APRNs and provides expert guidance to facilities and providers, ensuring optimal psychiatric care for residents, including those with major mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions.
A graduate of Harvard Medical School and the Harvard School of Public Health, Dr. Murphy completed his residency at McLean Hospital and is certified in adult psychiatry and addiction medicine. His leadership roles include serving as National Medical Director for HCA Behavioral Health Services and Medical Director at River Oaks Treatment Center and Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital.
An accomplished academic, Dr. Murphy has held faculty positions at Harvard Medical School and Vanderbilt University. He is the co-author of the widely used textbook Blueprints in Psychiatry and has published in peer-reviewed journals.
